Yashica Douglas has always been a pillar of support for her community. For over 24 years, she worked faithfully as a school counselor, dedicating her life to helping students, families, and anyone in need. I met Yashica while working as her son's Community Health Worker, and through our time together, I saw firsthand her kindness, resilience, and unwavering commitment to others. She has always been the person people could count on in times of need.
In 2023, Yashica faced a series of life-altering challenges. After undergoing a surgical procedure that did not go well, she was unable to work and lost wages during her recovery. The following year brought even more hardship: her son was hospitalized in a mental health facility, her beloved mother passed away, and she lost both her job and her home. Yashica also suffered a light stroke and lost her health insurance, making her path to recovery even more difficult. On top of these challenges, she has faced a divorce and has been the primary caregiver for her two children, both of whom have sickle cell disease.
Despite these overwhelming setbacks, Yashica continues to fight for her well-being and for her family. She is currently searching for work and trying to rebuild her life, but she has fallen behind on essential bills, including her car payment, and is struggling to cover basic living expenses and medical costs. Funds raised through this campaign will help Yashica with housing, daily necessities, medical bills, and transportation, giving her the stability she needs to focus on healing and moving forward.
We are reaching out with humble hearts to ask for support for someone who has spent most of her life helping others. Your kindness and generosity will make a real difference for Yashica as she works to overcome these challenges. Thank you for considering a donation and for standing with her during this difficult time.
