Support Yara's Journey to Stanford

Donation protected
We’re reaching out on behalf of Yara, a courageous and resilient Palestinian physician from Gaza who has been accepted into the prestigious Master’s in Community Health and Prevention Research (CHPR) program at Stanford University — a rare and remarkable achievement given the extraordinary adversity she has faced.

Who Is Yara?
Yara is not only a medical doctor — she is a wife, mom, passionate public health advocate, researcher, and humanitarian. She served on the frontlines during the war in Gaza, delivering emergency care in crisis zones, supporting patients in overcrowded shelters, and helping displaced families in dire conditions.

In addition to her clinical work, Yara has contributed to research published in top international journals including The Lancet and Frontiers in Nutrition. Her work has shed light on the health consequences of conflict, including malnutrition, mental health, and the impact of war on children and chronic disease patients.

Why She Needs Help
When the war in Gaza escalated in late 2023, Yara was forced to flee while nine months pregnant, narrowly surviving a bombing that destroyed her home. She gave birth in Egypt, where she now lives as a displaced mother, without legal work status or access to further education. Despite all odds, she secured admission to Stanford University, determined to transform her trauma into impact.

But without substantial financial support, this dream is slipping away. Tuition and living costs total over $90,000 for her first year, and she urgently needs at least $35,000 to begin the program this Autumn. All standard scholarships have been exhausted, and she is ineligible for federal aid due to her international and refugee status.

Why This Degree Matters
After finishing her medical degree, Yara recognized the necessity of building on her clinical skills with research and public health training to ensure sustainable health solutions for her community.

With her degree from Stanford, she hopes to:
• Design and lead community health programs in conflict zones.
• Train future healthcare providers in humanitarian settings.
• Conduct research on mental health, nutrition, and health disparities in war-torn regions.
• Advocate globally for vulnerable and displaced populations.
• Establish a scholarship fund for students from Gaza who are struggling to access education due to war and occupation.

How You Can Help
We’re seeking to raise $35,000 to cover Yara’s first two quarters at Stanford. Even partial support could be the bridge she needs to begin — and build momentum to secure additional institutional or philanthropic aid.

If you believe in the power of education, justice, and resilience, please consider donating or sharing this campaign with your network. Your support could quite literally change the course of one young doctor’s life — and through her, the lives of countless others.

Let’s stand with Yara. Let’s invest in a future where healing, education, and hope rise from the rubble.
