My name is Yaneli, and I’m reaching out for support as I recover from a heart transplant and three strokes caused by congestive heart failure. Before my health challenges, I loved going to church, exploring new places by car, and spending time with my family. I was born in Mexico and raised in the USA since I was seven, and just seven years ago, I married the love of my life. My world changed dramatically when my health declined, and now, even simple daily tasks have become difficult. While I am grateful to be alive and able to breathe more easily, I face new challenges every day. My rare medical condition causes me to lose magnesium through my urine, making it necessary to receive weekly magnesium transfusions and IV treatments. The heart transplant has also weakened my immune system, and I now rely on expensive heart medications that my insurance only cover once I meet my deductible. These ongoing treatments and prescriptions are essential for my recovery and quality of life, but the costs add up quickly. In addition to medical expenses, I worry about the cost of traveling to appointments and affording healthy food, which can be overwhelming. Since I have no job.
