Support Yamen & Family's Quality of Life

Hi all! My name is Sophia, I am 26 years old, and am from the Bay Area, CA. I came in to contact with Bushra's family through her brother Mahmoud, who asked that I support them in creating this gofundme. They are in dire need of financial support to support their basic needs and to obtain medical supplies for their young child, Yamen. Bushra's children are suffering from a scarcity of food and water, and go to sleep hungry.

Please read this note from the family:

Hello, help us. We are a family of nine living in Gaza. We live in the most difficult conditions in terms of material, health, and housing. We live in a house consisting of a room, a bathroom, and a kitchen. We have a son named Yamen, who is 3 years old. He has been suffering from gastroschisis since the first day of his birth where his intestines extend outside of the abdomen. He underwent many operations before the war on Gaza. The last operation he underwent was to remove the intestines from the body through which the stool is removed. He was supposed to undergo another necessary operation, but because of the war and the destruction of hospitals, the operation can no longer be performed in Gaza. We have been suffering a lot with Yamen’s condition for a year and a half. We are in desperate need of funds as Yamen’s condition requires many health matters such as diapers and continuous sterilization with saline solution and medical gauze. With the war on Gaza, there has been a shortage of the necessary medical supplies and we have become unable to access and afford them. Please support us in improving our quality of life. Any amount helps.

Yamen's older sister, Hanan, has also provided the following message:

Hello, my name is Hanan, and I’m a student from Gaza. I’m in my final year of high school – the scientific track, which is considered the most challenging and competitive stream in our education system. Despite everything, I’ve always been among the top students in my school.

But today, I find myself fighting not just for grades, but for the very right to learn. For months now, my life has been surrounded by war, destruction, and unbearable loss. Every day is a battle for survival — the sounds of bombs replacing the sounds of school bells, the smell of smoke instead of books. I’ve lost friends, family members, my sense of safety... but I haven’t lost hope...

Education has always been my light. Even under the shadow of war, I have worked so hard to remain among the best in my class. I believe deeply that education is my only way out, my only tool to build a future, not just for myself but for my family and community.

But today, everything I need to continue my education has become difficult and extremely expensive.

I need books, notebooks, a calculator, fees for lessons and exams, and reliable internet access to be able to study — and all these things have become very costly because of the war and destruction. On top of that, schools in Gaza have been destroyed, and we no longer have safe places to learn.

I’m reaching out to you because I need help. I know that any support — no matter how small — can make a real difference. You’re not just donating to a student; you’re giving hope to a girl who refuses to give up, who still dreams of becoming a scientist, a teacher, a healer, someone who builds life amid destruction.

Please help me reclaim my right to learn. Help me survive this war with my mind and future intact, not just my body.

From the bottom of my heart,
Thank you...❤️‍
