Everything Up Till Now

Yahna's day on Friday, May 26, 2023 began like any other day. She had plans for an early breakfast with a good friend and sobriety sponsee, ran a couple of errands, and spent the rest of the morning at home preparing for an exciting Memorial Day weekend with her family. However, shortly after noon, Yahna began acting oddly. Her headaches returned, and she struggled to speak. Thankfully, Yahna was not alone at the time. She managed to ask her friend to call her sons but it was clear that something was wrong. Her son urged Yahna's friend to take her to the hospital as soon as possible. Yahna was quickly taken to the emergency room at Kaiser.

The nurses at Kaiser immediately took Yahna in and began running tests. After a few moments, the news came - Yahna had a mass on the left frontal lobe of her brain. Family and friends rushed to the hospital from all around to provide their support and love. Yahna was transported to a Kaiser facility that specializes in neurology, where she has been receiving excellent care. With the aid of medication and steroids, doctors have been able to reduce the inflammation in her head, allowing her to regain her speech and coherence. After running several tests, the doctors determined that the mass was benign, but it was the size of a baseball, causing Yahna a lot of discomfort even with medication.

Currently, Yahna is in the ICU, awaiting her upcoming surgery on Friday, June 2, 2023. Fortunately, Yahna is in the care of some of the best neurosurgeons in the area who frequently perform surgeries like this one. The recovery process will take several months, during which Yahna will need to heal, undergo physical therapy, and receive love and support from her friends and family. We ask for extra support to help with Yahna's housing, medical, and recovery bills. Any donation, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated.
