Support Yadira Mendiola through tragic loss

Yadira Mendiola is a cornerstone of the small farmer community in the Central Coast region. She is the owner and operator of Queen of Vegetables Organic Farm in Royal Oaks and Watsonville, and she is a brilliant, generous, and hard-working woman whose passion and compassion inspire our whole community. She is also a single mother of three boys, the eldest of whom – Alex Garcia – died this past weekend in a car accident. His loss is felt by all of us who know Yadira, even if we did not know Alex personally.

This fundraiser is created by various members of the Central Coast farming community. As we have watched Yadira build her farm business, we have learned how dedicated she is to modeling hard work and passion for life for her children. Her loss breaks our hearts and is a tragedy for all of us who know and work with her.

Given that her family relies exclusively on income from her farm business, this fundraiser is meant to allow Yadira to arrange for time off from work to be with her loved ones. All funds will go directly to Yadira and her family so that she can take bereavement leave.
