Support Xu's Path to Stability After Car Accident

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Xu, and I need your help.

A week ago, I was in a car accident while working as a delivery driver. Thankfully, I wasn’t injured, but my car was severely damaged. The repair costs are $5,300, which I have to pay out of pocket. Given my current financial situation, I simply can’t afford it. Without my car, I can’t continue working, leaving me with no source of income.

Before becoming a delivery driver, I worked full-time as a designer in tech. In 2022, I was hospitalized for two days with severe COVID, and during that time, my fiancé broke up with me. Post-COVID complications and PTSD led to another hospitalization and medical leave in winter 2022. Years of overwork and stress had already caused chronic neck pain, which later developed into disc bulging.

In spring 2023, while on medical leave, I was fired from my job in tech. As an immigrant, I had only two months to secure new employment before my legal status expired. Unfortunately, due to my health and visa restrictions, I couldn’t find a job in time. I lost everything.

I am now seeking political asylum in the U.S. due to a history of severe abuse related to my gender expression and sexuality both in family and school. Some of my experiences include:
* At 7 years old, I was beaten until my teeth fell out by my father.
* At 10, I was slapped by my father repeatedly until my face was swollen, bruised, and bleeding.
* At 19, after coming out, I was choked and hit with a dumbbell—all by my father.

In summer 2024, after a long wait, I finally regained my work authorization. With no savings left due to a year of unemployment, I turned to food delivery to rebuild my life and pay off debt. But this job became more than just a way to survive—it allowed me to continue physical therapy and psychotherapy, rebuild my social network, and figure out my next career steps. My healthcare providers, those around me, and even I have noticed significant progress in my overall well-being.

Just as I was making real progress, this accident happened.

Now, I’m at risk of losing the small stability I had regained. I am asking for your help to repair my car so I can continue working, healing, and moving forward.

Every contribution, big or small, will mean the world to me. If you can’t donate, sharing my story would be just as valuable.

Thank you for reading and for any support you can give.
