Hi, my name is Jacqueline, and I’m asking for help for my beautiful daughter, Xiomara.

Our lives changed forever when Xiomara was diagnosed with a brainstem glioma, a rare and frightening brain tumor. As a parent, there are no words to describe the fear of hearing that your child has a tumor. Since her diagnosis, our family has been focused entirely on getting her the care, treatment, and support she needs.

Since Xiomara’s tumor is in the brainstem, treatment can be more challenging than if the tumor were in another part of the brain. The brainstem controls vital functions like breathing, swallowing, balance, movement, and vision, so surgeons were not able to remove the entire tumor safely. This is why she has to undergo treatment to hopefully stabilize it and prevent it from continuing to grow.

Xiomara has shown incredible strength and courage through doctor’s appointments, hospital stays, surgery, and the challenges that come with recovery. She continues to smile and amaze everyone around her, even on the hardest days.

Because I am her full-time caregiver, our family’s financial situation has become extremely difficult. Every day is centered around caring for Xiomara and making sure she has everything she needs.

Despite everything she’s facing, Xiomara is still full of light. She loves sensory toys, drawing, music, and dancing. Lately, she’s become a huge Michael Jackson fan, and one of her biggest dreams is to meet Michael Jackson’s nephew, Jafar Jackson. Seeing her hold onto those dreams gives us hope and reminds us that she’s still just a little girl who deserves moments of happiness throughout this difficult journey.

We’re asking for help to cover:

* Medical-related expenses not covered by insurance

* Transportation to and from appointments

* Food and daily household necessities

* Bills while I care for Xiomara full-time

* Comfort items, toys, crafts, books, and experiences that bring her joy and help brighten difficult days

* Any unexpected expenses related to her ongoing treatment and recovery
