Support Our Sweet Xena's Battle Against Aggressive Cancer

Dear kind friends and strangers,

In early May 2025, we got the kind of news every pet parent dreads: our sweet girl, Xena, has cancer.

What we thought was just a normal UTI turned out to be something far worse — large cell granular lymphoma, a rare and aggressive cancer. It’s incurable and inoperable. The only treatment is chemotherapy, which can help extend her life and keep her comfortable.

We are devastated. But, Xena’s doctor has remained optimistic that she can live a bit longer — because despite everything, she’s still eating, purring, playing, and surrounded by an incredible amount of love.

Xena is my world and has been by my side for nearly 15 years — through everything. She’s not just a cat; she’s my best friend, my comfort, my family.

When my fiancé and I moved in together in 2020, the three of us then became an inseparable little unit. She’s our world and our home is filled with love, laughter, and so many Xena cuddles. We always thought we’d have many more years together — our vet even told us she could live into her twenties because of how healthy and happy she was. Now we are shattered to learn it is much shorter but we have the chance to at least bring her into remission for a few more months to up to a 2 years. The only way we can do that though is with chemo.

So far, Xena has responded remarkably well to the treatments. We’ve completed 4 rounds, and she’s been a true fighter every step of the way. But we still have 8–12 more rounds to go, along with vet visits, tests, and medications.

We’ve already put $3,479.67 on our Care Credit card (approved only for pet care) just to get this far. And to make things even more difficult, I (Dimitra) was recently laid off from HSN and have been actively looking for 2 months with no luck yet. We’re working on paying the care credit card, but with job loss and recent car issues on top of that, we’re stretched thin, and it’s getting harder to keep up with the mounting costs.

She is the nucleus of our family. I (Dimitra) lost my father in 2020 and it was absolutely the same exact gut-wrenching, heartbreaking pain I’m feeling again. On top of that, Nick never even had a pet of his own and with Xena he learned a special type of love he didn’t know before, which has been truly remarkable to witness because they have such a significant bond.

It breaks both of our hearts equally and we can’t imagine losing her. We are desperate to have a least a little longer with her. Without treatment the survival rate is only 60-90 days and with treatment she could go into remission for several months or up to 2 years.
