This GoFundMe was created to help bring financial relief for Xavier’s family for his continuing treatment. Every donation, no matter the size, truly makes a difference for his family during this challenging time. A contribution of any size is greatly appreciated. There is power in prayer, and we ask those who are unable to give to simply keep this family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate through this unfortunate time.
Xavier’s doctor discovered a cyst in his jaw. In February, he had surgery for a biopsy, which came back showing that Xavier has an odontogenic keratocyst. He will have many surgeries to come. He will have one on April 16th. They will decompress the cyst, inject chemo into the cyst, and put in 4 draining tubes. These will be in for 6-9 months. He will have to have them drained 4 times a day for the 6-9 months. Xavier will have a CT every month to make sure the chemo is working and shrinking the cyst. He will eventually have to have another surgery to remove what is left of the cyst and determine how much of his jaw and teeth were damaged. Then he will have surgery to reconstruct his jaw and remove his teeth.
Odontogenic keratocyst: This cyst is also referred to as a keratocystic odontogenic tumor because of its tumor-like tendency to recur after surgical treatment. Although this cyst is typically slow-growing, it can still be destructive to the jaw and teeth if left untreated over a long period of time. Most often, the cyst develops in the lower jaw near the third molars. These cysts may also be found in people with an inherited condition called nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome.
