Support Xavier Monroe's Family through Crisis and Recovery

Story

My name is Julia O'Flaherty. Along with a group of close friends, I am organizing this fundraiser for our lifelong friend Xavier Monroe, his incredible wife Erica, and their three beautiful children: Louie (6), Alora (3), and Sonny (1). We are asking for your generosity to support Xavier and his family through an unimaginable medical crisis and on the long road ahead. What Happened On May 15th, 2025, Xavier - our beloved friend, husband, father, son, and brother - suffered a seizure followed by prolonged cardiac arrest. He was airlifted from his home in Sterling, CO, to receive specialized neurological care in Denver, CO. Xavier spent three weeks in the Cardiac ICU, where he was ventilated, sedated, and monitored to give his brain the best chance to recover. He has since been moved to a trauma unit in the same hospital. On June 6th, he began breathing without continuous ventilator support for the first time, a meaningful milestone. Where Things Stand Now While these bits of progress are encouraging, Xavier remains only mildly conscious and intermittently responsive. An MRI showed significant brain damage due to a lack of oxygen during cardiac arrest. At this stage, we don’t yet know the full extent of his recovery or what level of function he may regain. Xavier requires 24/7 hospital care and will remain in a medical facility for at least six more months, likely longer. Why We’re Asking for Help Xavier’s condition has placed a significant emotional and financial strain on his family. Some costs include: Helicopter flight Prolonged ICU stay Ongoing hospital care Travel and lodging expenses for Erica and their children Living costs for Xavier’s mother, Kathie, who has flown in from Georgia to support the family Unforeseen needs as Xavier's recovery continues Even with insurance, these expenses are staggering. Erica has been traveling constantly between Sterling and Denver to care for her husband and children. Maintaining any sense of normalcy has been profoundly difficult, and we want to ease that burden so she can focus on what matters most: her family. About Xavier To know Xavier is to love him. He is a devoted stay-at-home dad, an incredibly supportive husband, and a fiercely loyal friend. His days were filled with caring for Louie, Alora, and Sonny, who are the center of his world. Xavier is the best among us; immensely dedicated, incredibly caring, and always the first to lend a helping hand. We hope to repay his love, loyalty, and care for those around him in kind with support for him and his family during this time. How You Can Help Please consider donating; any amount helps. Whether it’s $5, $50, or $500, your support means the world. You can also help by sharing this campaign with your network. Keep Xavier, Erica, and their children in your thoughts and prayers. This will be a long and uncertain road, but your generosity gives them strength, hope, and relief as they try to recover as a family. Thank you for being part of Xavier’s community.

What Happened

On May 15th, 2025, Xavier - our beloved friend, husband, father, son, and brother - suffered a seizure followed by prolonged cardiac arrest.

Where Things Stand Now

While these bits of progress are encouraging, Xavier remains only mildly conscious and intermittently responsive.

Why We’re Asking for Help

Xavier’s condition has placed a significant emotional and financial strain on his family. Some costs include:

  • Helicopter flight
  • Prolonged ICU stay
  • Ongoing hospital care
  • Travel and lodging expenses for Erica and their children
  • Living costs for Xavier’s mother, Kathie, who has flown in from Georgia to support the family
  • Unforeseen needs as Xavier's recovery continues

Even with insurance, these expenses are staggering. Erica has been traveling constantly between Sterling and Denver to care for her husband and children. Maintaining any sense of normalcy has been profoundly difficult, and we want to ease that burden so she can focus on what matters most: her family.
