Support Wylder's Top Surgery Recovery
Donation protected
Hi friends! I am sharing this campaign on behalf of Wylder who is scheduled to have top surgery on November 27th. This surgery requires an extensive recovery time with significantly restricted limitation on the use of their upper body for the first several weeks, impacting their ability to work during that time. This campaign has been created to help surround Wylder with the same kind of love, support and belief in them that they have so dedicated their life to showing up with for others!
What is top surgery?
Top surgery is a gender-affirming procedure that removes chest tissue to create a flatter chest, helping individuals align their physical presentation with their inner sense of self.
What will recovery be like?
Wylder’s recovery is expected to take four to six weeks. For this period of time folks who've had top surgery must not lift their hands and arms above shoulder level in order to avoid straining their incisions as they heal. They cannot drive for the first week to ten days for similar reasons. They also must avoid lifting anything more than 10 lbs or any other strenuous upper body activity.
For these reasons, Wylder will be taking medical leave from their part-time role at the Parlor Room Collective as well as stepping away from their patchwork of jobs as a grant consultant, landscaper, child care provider, and handy person in order to recover and heal, and will have a significantly reduced income during this time.
How can I support?
Financial support will help cover missed income during Wylder’s recovery and reduce the anxiety of basic bills and expenses as they heal and recover. If you’re unable to donate but know others who might want to help, please feel free to share this with trusted friends, family, and allies.
As so many of you know firsthand, Wylder has spent their life advocating for a world where people can trust that the soft animal of their tender hearts can find home, connection, community and belonging. They are the person who tirelessly and fiercely believes in what others may not yet dare to believe for themselves, rallying resources and community to help build a world that affirms the brilliance of their being. By surrounding Wylder with the same fierce love and support they’ve given others, we help them believe in the life they’re daring to live and nourish deepening trust in the person they know themself to be.
In a world that feels so far beyond our control let's take a page out of Wylder's book and believe that this how we change worlds. This is how we dream new worlds into existence - by believing in and championing the world we each hold within us.
