Four days ago Wyatt was admitted to the advent health PICU for DVT, mildly enlarged heart, sepsis and MRSA infection of the blood, pneumonia. We are still trying to narrow down the source of the infection. He has been intubated and on a ventilator since the 12th. He has undergone a surgical procedure to drain his septic joint and bone in his left knee.

we have been in the PICU since the 11 & will continue to be in this unit for a couple more days. That is subject to change if he gets worse.

Update on Wyatt. He has been extubated (breathing tube removed). He is off of the ventilator. His PICC line has been placed. He is still very weak & his breathing isn’t the greatest. We are treating the MRSA bacteraemia, septic arthritis, DVT (blood clots), pneumonia and elevated liver values. He was fever free for two days. Last night he started to spike fevers again.

His abdominal ultrasound was a little abnormal but with all he has going on, they arent to concerned about it.

We will still be in the PICU for a couple more days. Like a week in the PICU isnt long enough. We will then be transferred to the step down peds unit. We will spend at least another 2 weeks there before coming home. So long as he doesn’t progress backwards.

Once we are home we can expect another 6 weeks at least of IV antibiotics.

We were told to expect highs and lows due to the severity of everything. So keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

We have a long road ahead of us but we’re taking baby steps to get there.

we are looking at 3 weeks here in hospital and an additional 6 weeks of IV infusions after discharge.
