Wyatt Burrell & his fiance Paige Mawhiney were in a very serious ATV accident this past Saturday evening. They hit a deer on a country road

& have both sufferred Traumatic Brain Injuries. Both have fractured skulls w/ multiple brain bleeds. They are both struggling with short term memory at this time & multiple areas of road rash.

-Wyatt was unconscious & had to be intubated on scene. PRAISE GOD he started over-riding the machines & breathing on his own around 2 AM Sunday. We were able to get him off the ventilator completely on Monday. He is talking & alert, but we won't know the full extent of the brain injury for a while. Wyatt is extremely agitated & in a lot of pain, as he also suffers with a broken collar bone, right shoulder, left foot & 2 areas mid back. At this time, he does not require any surgeries. We were told today that upon his arrival to ER Sat, his scans showed a SSS blockage to the back of his brain, which is terminal. Clearly the PRAYERS are working, as he is still with us. When he can help cooperate a bit more, we will be getting another CT of that area. Wyatt has many months ahead of therapies.

-Paige is doing well & is up walking. She got out of Neuro-trauma ICU last night. She still has a long road of recovery & therapy ahead of her.

*Our goal is to keep them both calm with not much stimulation, so that their brains will repair themselves.

*These kids had their little dog, Gizzy that night & we are absolutely heartbroken to say he did not survive. Paige is aware, but this info is being kept from Wyatt at this time, as he needs to focus on healing & can't be getting upset.

Long term therapy is going to be needed for them both. Recovery is also going to result in many months of wages lost due to the inability to work.
