Help Us Build a Legacy of Learning in Nigeria
In the heart of Mbieri, Imo State, Nigeria, a dream is coming to life — a dream that began with two ordinary people who believed deeply in the power of education.
The William and Teresa Okorie (WTO) Foundation, named in their honor, was created to carry forward that belief: that every child deserves access to knowledge, and that education can transform not just lives, but entire communities.
Our Mission: Empower Minds. Build Futures. Inspire Change.
The WTO Foundation is a U.S.-based nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to education, literacy, and technology across underserved communities in Nigeria and Africa.
Our goal is simple yet urgent — to make learning accessible for all, especially in communities where opportunities are few and resources are scarce.
We believe that when you empower one mind, you uplift a nation.
Our First Major Project: The WTO Community Library
Right now, we are building the William and Teresa Okorie (WTO) Library — a ₦200 million (about $130,000 USD) community library and learning center in Umuduru, Mbieri, Mbaitoli LGA, Imo State.
For generations, this community has produced bright, hardworking students — but with no modern library, no internet access, and few safe study spaces, their dreams have been limited by circumstance.
The WTO Library will change that.
When completed, it will include:
• A modern reading hall filled with books and learning materials
• A children’s section that sparks imagination and joy for reading
• A digital learning suite with computers and internet access
• Solar powered Library
• Internet connectivity powered by StarLink
• STEM, literacy, and youth innovation programs for students and teachers
This will be the first privately funded community library in the region — a safe, inspiring space where curiosity can thrive and young minds can dream boldly.
❤️ Why We Need Your Help
We’ve already come a long way, but we need your support to finish strong.
Your donations will help us:
• Furnish the library and reading rooms
• Purchase books, computers, and educational software
• Train local volunteers and teachers
• Launch literacy and digital skills programs for children and youth
Every contribution — no matter the amount — brings us closer to opening the doors of knowledge for thousands of young people.
A Gift That Grows
When you support the WTO Foundation, you’re not just funding a building — you’re planting seeds of opportunity.
A child who discovers books today could become the teacher, engineer, or innovator who transforms their community tomorrow.
This is more than charity; it’s legacy work.
Together, we can ensure that William and Teresa Okorie’s values of learning, service, and compassion live on through generations.
