Wounded Warrior Project®

Hi everyone! We are a group of UNT Civic Engagement students raising awareness to help the Wounded Warrior Project®. This is a cause that each of us is connected to, either as a veteran or through family members of veterans.

Wounded Warrior Project® is a national nonprofit that serves post 9-11 veterans and service members living with physical injuries, invisible wounds like PTSD, and other combat-related challenges. The organization provides mental health counseling, career development, peer support, and adaptive sports programs that help warriors rebuild their lives and connect with the community.

Our vision is to deliver support to post 9-11 veterans to alleviate mental, physical, and economic challenges upon returning from active duty, through awareness and meaningful contributions from compassionate donors. Our goal isn't measured in dollars, it's measured in impact. While raising funds is part of this campaign, what matters most is reaching the people who need help the most. If this effort touches even one veteran who feels unseen, reminds one family they are not alone, or inspires one person to seek help, then we’ve already succeeded.

The transition after service isn’t always the joyful return people imagine. For many veterans, it's the start of a new kind of battle. The noise fades, the uniforms get stored away, but the memories don't. Some wake up from nightmares they can't shake, while others face daily chronic pain that won't go away. Finding work, reconnecting with family and friends, or even feeling like they belong can be harder than anything faced while in service. According to the U.S Department of Veterans Affairs (2023), about 17 veterans die by suicide every single day. The Wounded Warrior Project® (2024) reports that 63% of veterans reported symptoms of one or more mental health conditions, and 76% experience chronic pain that limits daily life. These numbers aren't just statistics, they represent Mothers, Fathers, Daughters, Sons, and friends who deserve better support after service. A person who wore the uniform and came home carrying more than just memories. Many of us know a veteran personally, and we’ve seen the quiet struggles that don't get talked about, the sleepless nights, the feeling of being left behind in a world that has moved on.

This campaign is our way of saying we see you. It is a reminder to every veteran that their sacrifices still matter and that they are not forgotten. Every donation, no matter how small, is a message of gratitude and hope. According to the Wounded Warrior Project® (2025), they have had the opportunity to help and represent over 185,000 warriors as of March 2023.

By contributing to this campaign, you're doing more than making a donation, you're extending a hand to someone who once risked everything for others. You're helping veterans rediscover purpose after the uniform comes off, offering the chance to heal wounds that aren't always visible. If you can’t donate right now, sharing this fundraiser is also incredibly helpful. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity, it means the world to us.
