Seventeen of my coworkers—cooks, servers, bartenders, and porters—recently lost their jobs at Achilles Heel after attempting to unionize. On Friday, February 6th, we announced our intention to unionize to the restaurant’s general manager. Our desire was to bargain in good faith with the Achilles Heel and the Marlow Collective management. Two days later, we were all terminated and the business was permanently closed, both effective immediately.
We are presently facing unemployment and its immediate challenges: paying rent, utilities, covering basic needs like food, for instance. We’re asking for your support to help us get through this difficult time. Any contribution will make a real difference for our team as we work to rebuild our lives in the closure’s wake. Your generosity will help us cover essential expenses while we search for new opportunities. Thank you for standing with us.
All the funds collected here will be personally distributed to the former workers of Achilles Heel, based on finically need to cover basic costs like rent, groceries and utilities.
