We are JuiceBox Events — a collective of queer women of colour, proudly rooted in Jamaican, Cuban, and wider Caribbean heritage.
Hurricane Melissa has devastated communities across Jamaica. Thousands of women and LGBTQ+ people have lost their homes, access to food, water, essentials, and safe spaces and we’re stepping up to help.
Many of them are women and LGBTQ+ people already facing barriers to safety, shelter and care.
Our mission is to deliver care barrels filled with essential items to women and LGBTQ+ Jamaicans affected by Hurricane Melissa— from food, hygiene products, and water to clothing and comfort supplies.
This GoFundMe will fund the logistics to make it happen:
Packing and storage materials
Shipping and customs costs
Coordination and transport between collection sites and Jamaica
Ongoing support for verified grassroots organisations on the ground. We are working alongside some great Jamaican Organisations that are aligned with JuiceBox Events @wechangeja @queetego @connekja
We’re a community built by and for queer Caribbean women. We dance together, we heal together, and now we’re rebuilding together.
Our hearts are heavy, but our nation is resilient. Jamaica has always risen from the storm and this time, we’ll rise as one family, one community, one love.
