We are raising funds to support an exciting and vital initiative that is starting in Cairo this November 2024 that provides menstrual education workshops and hygienic, sustainable menstrual products for girls and women.
In many parts of Egypt, menstruation and women's health remains a taboo topic, leaving girls and women without the knowledge or resources to navigate this natural part of life confidently (and sometimes safely). The lack of awareness and accurate information can lead to health risks, missed educational and work opportunities, and feelings of shame and isolation.
We dream of a world where every girl and woman feels connected to her body and able to understand the messages and information it offers her in every moment. Where she understands her cyclical nature and the processes of creation and cleansing that happen every month and throughout her lifecycle. Where she feels supported and celebrated by her community as she moves through the important transitions and initiations of her life (e.g. menarche, motherhood, menopause etc).
Our workshops start this month and will initially be offered to hundreds of girls and women at refugee community centers and refugee schools in Cairo. These workshops will be conducted in both English and Arabic so that the information can be fully received and understood by participants.

These interactive and informational sessions will provide:
- A culturally sensitive, safe space for women to gather, learn together, ask questions and create supportive community structures.
- Education on women’s health and hygiene, menstrual cycles, and self-care that will play a crucial role in addressing period poverty.
- Accurate knowledge about the female body and menstruation to help break down the stigma and dispel myths that prevent girls and women from seeking help and using safe, sustainable menstrual practices.
The funds we raise will go directly towards training local facilitators, setting up a sustainable educational process and providing essential menstrual products, ensuring participants are equipped with both knowledge and practical resources. By empowering local leaders, mothers and daughters through education, this project aims to reduce stigma, foster self-awareness, and build a supportive community where women can feel confident in their bodies.
