Who are we:
The International Community of Wolayta-Denver chapter is a non-profit organization that aims to serve the aim of building a strong, unified, and caring Wolayta-Ethiopian community; where youth, adults, and elders are engaged and contributing to mutual advancement through educational, social, economic, and cultural ties.
As part of this organization, we initiated the Wolayta Media Network (WMN)-an independent, non-partisan and non-profit network whose mission is to produce original and citizen-driven reporting on Wolayta and other parts of Ethiopia.
WMN seeks to offer coverage of critical issues by bringing much needed attention to under-reported yet important stories in the region. Our goal is to create a strong and sustainable multi-lingual communication that will provide reliable information about Wolayta people and Ethiopian. We also aim to connect the growing Wolayta and the larger Ethiopian diaspora to its homeland using innovative and people-centered storytelling techniques.
Why we are raising funds:
In order to accomplish such ambitious goal, WMN is asking the support of generous individuals and organizations that believe in people-centered and honest story telling. Specifically, the funds raised will help build the first WMN studio that will be used to create and disseminate content that depicts trustworthy information; provide platform for discussion on educational, cultural, economical and social topics.
