On May 27th, 2025, one of my worst fears became reality…. my father, Brandon Alexander, passed away due to complications from LADA (Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults), also known as Type 1.5 diabetes. After years of battling this difficult illness, and then the last week or so being in extreme pain and very sick, his body finally gave out. I found him on the living room floor early in the morning, and it’s a moment I’ll never forget.
The days leading up to his passing, he was sick and in a lot of pain. But even through the hardest times, my dad never stopped being the kind, funny, and generous man so many people loved. He had a way of showing up when you needed him, cracking a joke when things were heavy, and making everyone feel like they mattered. He was more than a father in so many ways, he was my role model, one of the most genuine people I’ve ever known, and most importantly my best friend.
I wasn’t ready for this. I don’t think anyone ever really is. I wish I had one more chance to tell him how much I love him, to thank him for everything he’s done, and to say goodbye the right way.
Right now, I’m facing the difficult task of trying to cover the cost of his memorial and end-of-life expenses, and unfortunately, neither of us were financially prepared for something like this. That’s why I’m asking for help. If you’re able to donate, share, or even just keep me and my family in your thoughts, it would mean the world. Every little bit helps, and I truly appreciate anything you can give, even just spreading the word.
Thank you for your love, support, and kindness during this incredibly hard time.
With gratitude,
Dane
