Hello
I am starting this GoFundMe because our 18-year-old granddaughter, Winter, was recently diagnosed with a very aggressive form of lymphoma which was found to be stage IV. This was discovered 2 weeks ago when our daughter had to take her to the local ER for severe back and abdominal pain. She has been to the ER several times over the past few months for this back pain, only to be told it was a back strain. This time, with the abdominal pain also a factor, our daughter was insistent on them doing a CT of her abdomen to make sure she didn't have a possible kidney stone. This is the day everything changed for our family. The imaging showed masses on her pancreas, colon, spleen, and also numerous enlarged lymph nodes in her abdomen, as well as a metastatic lesion to her spine. She was admitted to a local hospital for a biopsy, which could not determine the primary site of this cancer. A week later, she was transferred to Atlanta, which is over 2 hours away from their home.
The journey with Winter started 6 years ago when Tausha and Adam were fostering Winter and her 2 younger siblings. 2 years ago, they were finally able to adopt them and call them their own. Tausha and Adam are the most humble, giving, and loving people I know. They have helped so many people and never thought twice about doing so. They are both very successful in the medical field, but with this life-changing situation and Winter being at a hospital over 2 hours away, it is going to be difficult to juggle schedules and also try to keep some sort of normalcy for the littles. Their oldest son Noah and an endless list of friends have been so helpful. Travel expenses, food, and sitters, as well as getting the littles to and from school, are all going to become very costly as they take turns working and traveling back and forth to the hospital with Winter. Please, even if it's a prayer you can give this family, I know they would greatly appreciate it.
