Hey everyone,

Thank you for taking a second to visit this page. I’m doing this for my cousin and her amazing dog, Winston, who is currently going through a tough health battle.

Winston had a rough start in life — he’s a rescue who went through a few bad homes before finally finding his forever family. It took years of patience, trust, and love, but Winston and her built an incredible bond. They do everything together — morning coffee and a pup cup, long games of fetch, and quiet moments people-watching on a park bench.

What Happened:

Recently, Winston’s groomer discovered a lump on his right back thigh. She immediately rushed him to the emergency vet, and after several tests, they received heartbreaking news — it was a mast cell tumor, a form of cancer.

Further consultations and imaging showed that the tumor was large and had wrapped around the muscle. The best and only treatment option to save his life was a full leg amputation.

This was an unbelievable shock. Just three weeks earlier, Winston had received a clean bill of health from his vet — no pain, no limping, no signs at all. Despite the devastating diagnosis, his doctors were optimistic. At only 6 years old, Winston still had great odds and a chance to live a full, happy life after surgery.

It was a hard decision, but Winston deserved that chance — and he’s been so brave through it all.

The Financial Impact:

Unfortunately, everything happened very quickly, and the financial strain has been overwhelming.

Here’s a breakdown of Winston’s care so far:

Initial emergency visit: $1,500
Surgical consultation, CT scan & biopsies: $3,500
Surgery & hospital stay: $7,200
Two emergency follow-up visits: $500
Oncologist consultation: $275
Post-surgery medications (painkillers, sedation meds, antibiotics): $— bringing the total to just over $13,000.

This wasn’t something she could have prepared for, and she’s done everything possible to make sure he got the care he needed.

The Good News:

We’re beyond grateful to share that the doctors were able to remove all the cancer with the amputation. Winston has a long recovery ahead, but he’s healing well and already showing his sweet, resilient spirit.

Moving forward, his care will include regular screenings, ultrasounds, and X-rays twice a year to ensure he stays cancer-free.

How You Can Help:

Every little bit helps — whether it’s a donation or simply sharing Winston’s story. Your support will go directly toward covering the cost of his surgery, follow-up care, and helping her focus on his recovery without the financial stress.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading, sharing, and helping give Winston the second chance he deserves.
