Support Wilson's Surgery for a Joyful Recovery
Donation protected
Hi there. My name is Craig and my Cocker Spaniel's name is Wilson. I'm 66 years old and Wilson is my son since I never had any children. He'll be 10 in August. In early May, Wilson jumped off the ottoman to greet my nephew and he started screeching in pain. He injured his right leg. He went to the vet and his X-ray showed a bad fracture to his upper right Ulna, the higher leg bone. Wilson's personality is one of Joy and playfulness and everyone he meets is a new friend to him. Wilson is going to require surgery to repair his leg and it's something I simply can't afford. My Social Security check is less than $1,000 per month, so I'm doing a GoFundMe collection so my little guy can have the surgery he requires to get him back to four working legs so he can continue to run, jump and live his life normally and happily again. The amount for his surgery is estimated to be between $4,500 and $5,200. Our four-legged family members bring untold joy, love and comfort to our lives. Anyone who has ever had a dog knows their love is completely unconditional and lasting. I'm hoping Wilson will be back to his playful self soon. If this collection goes over what is needed to help Wilson, the leftover funds will be donated to an animal rescue center to help those in need, as Wilson is. Thank you in advance for your kind help and donation.
UPDATE:
Hello everyone.. Wilson had surgery yesterday and it seems to have gone well. We picked him up about 7 PM last night. Talking with the surgeon, I found out a few things I didn't know. First, it was a bilateral fracture, which means the fracture was on two sides of the Ulna and right at the joint.
Second, Spaniels are predisposed to this sort of thing. Third, he had two plates put in (with screws) because the fracture occurred on both sides of the bone.
He had a rough night, but he had a good breakfast this morning and his regular dessert with watermelon, cantaloupe and sherbet. He's on four different meds and sleeping as I write this.
I also want to thank everyone that donated so far, but we haven't reached our goal yet. So if many of you could share this post, we hope to get there. Thank you again and please share this post for Wilson. He's the son I never had and my love for him is endless, as his is for me! Thank you, friends! ❤
I would also like to thank my sister Pamm MacRae and her husband Tom for paying the bill. It is only through their kindness that Wilson was able to have surgery this week. It is now my responsibility to pay them back as quickly as possible for what they put out for Wilson. This wouldn't have happened without their generosity!
Hello everyone, Wilson is resting comfortably. I wanted to post the first estimate for his surgery; this was before they knew that there was a second fracture on the leg. That brought the final total up to $5237.71
Thank you to all who have been able to donate, and also to all of those who have shared the posts on Wilson. ❤
