This is our precious Mamaw Wilma Jean, and she was recently diagnosed with stage 2b high grade serous carcinoma (ovarian cancer). The doctors found a cyst/mass on her right ovary that was bigger than the size of a grapefruit. Surgery was performed, and was successful at removing the cyst/mass, as well as doing a total hysterectomy. During surgery they sent the contents over to the lab to be tested, and the results were high grade serous carcinoma (ovarian cancer). The doctor originally thought the staging was around stage 3, but we had to wait for full pathology to come back in the coming days. We were finally able to get the full pathology report, and it came back that it is stage 2b! We are praising Jesus for that! They also performed a CT of her chest to make sure there was no spread to that area, which came back clean. Praising Jesus again! Although the doctor was able to get all of the cyst and cancer out during surgery that she could visibly see. The doctor explained that there are tiny microscopic cells that she can not see with her eyes that attach to the stomach walls, meaning chemo will need to be taken to make sure we get all the cancer. She will be starting chemo in the coming weeks. She will do one treatment every 3 weeks for around 4-5 months. After chemo treatments are done she will need to go on a maintenance dose that she will take long term to keep the cancer away for as long as possible. Our mamaw will be turning 85 in August, and lives on a fixed income. She is by far one of the strongest women i know, but we want to be able to alleviate some of the financial burden that this will cause her as much as we can. We want her to be fully focused on resting, healing, and beating this thing. With that being said please know if you aren’t able to donate, we just ask for as many prayers as possible for this amazing woman. This woman is the world to so many, and we just want her to be as comfortable as she can be through this journey. Some of the things that we please ask you to pray for specifically right now is she is worried about being nauseous, fatigued, and dizzy during her treatments. So please pray for her to have little to no symptoms during her chemo treatments. And of course for complete and total healing in her body✨
