Willy, our foster puppy, found us when he was living in the woods near our house. We've been caring for him since August. Yesterday, we brought him to the vet to be neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. This was the last step towards preparing him for adoption.

Unfortunately, the vet called soon after they'd anesthetized Willy because they'd discovered that he had a case of cryptorchidism; that is, one of his testicles never descended. It was hiding deep inside his abdominal cavity, and the cord was all tangled up with his intestines. We told them to dig it out because Willy needed it gone regardless, but the complication turned his standard neuter surgery into a much more expensive procedure. Between the neuter, the necessary post-surgical drugs, the vaccinations, and the microchip, Willy cost us just barely shy of $900 yesterday.

Willy is our private foster. He is not in any rescue 's care. That means that every dollar spent on this pup comes out my husband's and my pocket... and we simply can't afford to spend that much on this dog.

Moreover, last weekend, while we were searching for a recently adopted past foster who went missing, we ended up with an intact male cat who looks just like the other cat. He's friendly, so we're going to get him vetted and then adopt him out, too. His medical bills will also add up.

Please help if you can. We can't afford to do all this, but we must do it anyway.
