Hi, my name is Julia Tkaczyk and I am reaching out for support during one of the most difficult times a family can face. My sister, Marta and her partner, Will, are navigating an unimaginable medical journey after Will was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease called MDA5 Antibody Dermatomyositis.

This rare condition has led to severe interstitial lung disease, and Will is currently in critical condition in the ICU, relying on an ECMO machine (a form of life support) to help his lungs rest and recover while a team of doctors work to stabilize him and explore every possible treatment. He may require a double lung transplant- a potentially life-saving but very complex procedure that will involve months of recovery and care.

Why We Are Asking for Help
If Will becomes eligible for a lung transplant, Marta and Will's family will need to relocate to Edmonton, Alberta for at least 4 months to be near the transplant centre while awaiting a transplant, and for ongoing care and monitoring following the operation.
His parents Maria Choi and Sangkyu Huh, and his sister Michelle Huh, are traveling from South Korea to be by his side, and as you can imagine- the anticipated financial burden is becoming overwhelming.

Your support will help with these costs:
  • Relocation and housing during transplant and recovery.
  • Medications, therapies, and supplies that are not covered by insurance.
  • Lost income while Marta becomes a full-time caregiver.
  • Groceries, bills, and transportation for Will and his family.
  • Emergency and long-term recovery needs.

Every donation will go directly toward relocation, recovery, and care costs. Any remaining funds will be used for ongoing medical expenses and rehabilitation.

If you are able, please consider donating, any amount truly makes a difference. And if you are unable to support financially, please :
  • Share this campaign with others
  • Leave words of encouragement
  • Keep Will in your thoughts and prayers.

Your kindness, love, and generosity mean more than words can express.
Thank you for standing with Marta, Maria, Michelle, and Sangkyu during this fight for healing and hope for Will.

With love and gratitude,
The Huh and Tkaczyk Families

**Updates
We will be sharing updates here as Will continues his journey- including small victories and recovery milestones along the way. Please continue to check back for updates and keep Will in your thoughts and prayers.
