In Feb, we had to take our 6-year-old daughter Willow to the emergency room, starting the longest year of our lives. She started at Cooperstown Hospital and was immediately transferred to Albany Med due to how serious her condition was. Since then, we have discovered that she has an autoimmune disease called Vasculitis. This disease attacks the small blood vessels in your body. For Willow, it attacked her lungs and mainly her kidneys. We have been fighting ever since to get her healthy. We have spent approximately 4 weeks in hospital stays. In the end, Willow has end-stage kidney failure and we are starting the process of getting her a kidney transplant as there was no recovering the damage that was done to her kidneys. She is currently on dialysis twice a week and has her first appointment in Boston on Sept 23rd, 2025. This will require overnight stays as we have to be there early and frequent travel to complete all the workup required for the transplant. In addition, once she has the transplant, we will have to stay in Boston for a continuous period of time of 5 weeks or more for her recovery, and she will need to be out of school for multiple months after. We are looking for help with medical bills, transportation costs for Boston, housing costs to stay in Boston, and support for those who are going through the process to be tested as a donor because it is costly for them as well. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated towards helping our spunky little Willow to be successful in this process.
