Hi, my name is Stacy Newton, and I’m writing with a full and humble heart for my daughter, Willow, who is turning 18 and stepping boldly into her next chapter of her life. She just finished her senior year at Teton High School six months early and is ready to chase her dreams on the world stage. This January, Willow will represent the United States at the 2026 Freeride Junior World Championships in Kappl, Austria—an opportunity only a handful of young athletes worldwide earn. She is currently the #1 ranked U-19 female snowboarder in North and South America, and she’ll be returning to Truckee, California, for her second season with the Team Palisades Big Mountain Freeride Snowboard Team to train at the highest level.
My husband, Derek, and I have always encouraged our kids to think big, work hard, and follow their hearts. Freeride has brought our family so much joy (and tears), lifelong friendships, and unforgettable memories—but like many families in the ski and snowboard world know,, the costs behind these dreams are enormous.
We’re doing everything we can, but with travel, coaching, gear, training fees, and international competition costs, it’s become overwhelming—especially in today’s economy. Your support will directly help Willow travel to Europe, train, and compete in both France and at the World Championships in Austria. Remaining funds will go toward her training, travel, and competition expenses throughout the 2025–26 season as she steps into the Freeride World Tour Challenger Series, the pathway to the professional tour. We estimate that getting all 4 of us to Worlds along with her 2026 competition season will cost our family around $25,000 over the next four months.
