Hello everyone,

My name is William Garcia. I’m a Venezuelan-born musician with over 20 years of experience as both a performer and music educator. Music has taken me across borders and through incredible personal and professional transformations. After years of study and perseverance, I came to the United States, where I’ve completed two graduate programs—an Artist Diploma and a Master of Music in Performance—adding a total of five diplomas to my resume.

For the past four years, Pittsburgh has become home. Here, I’ve been blessed with opportunities to grow, teach, and connect with amazing people and organizations who’ve welcomed me into their artistic communities. Now, I want nothing more than to stay and continue sharing my gifts through music and education.

But I’m at a crossroads—and I need your help.

I’m currently in the U.S. on a temporary permit (OPT), which is only valid for one year. To remain here legally and continue contributing to my community, I must apply for a visa—a process that is extremely expensive. Legal fees for the visa application alone are around $20,000. On top of that, I still owe $4,000 to my university, which is preventing me from receiving the very diploma I’ve worked so tirelessly for.

The financial burden has become overwhelming. It's affected me deeply—physically, mentally, emotionally. I've reached a point where I simply cannot carry this alone. So, I’m turning to you—my community, my friends, and those who believe in the power of art and the value of perseverance.

My goal is to raise $10,000 through this GoFundMe campaign. These funds will go directly toward:

Covering part of the visa legal fees

Paying off my remaining university balance so I can finally receive my degree

Getting essential documents professionally translated and prepared
