In 2012 and 2014, I launched campaigns for the San Francisco Community College Board of Trustees.

In 2012, with no funding, I came in 8th with about 50,000 votes.

In 2014, with minimal funding, I came in 2nd place, with 57,000 votes, in a one-seat race, only falling 8,000 votes short of winning. I gained over a dozen endorsements from elected officials, several local newspapers, and local democratic clubs, and received over 40 percent of all votes cast.

On August 26, 2022, I will launch my latest campaign for the CCSF Board of Trustees. Since my last run, I've worked in student services at Foothill College, UCSF and UC Berkeley. I developed programs to increase student success in STEM courses for underrepresented students and supported the development of racial equity plans for the San Francisco County Transportation Authority, the California Governor's Office of Planning and Research, the San Francisco Controller's Office and nonprofit organization the San Francisco Transit Riders.

Black students are continually below the college average for several equity metrics, including credit course success over time and overall term-to-term retention. Black students are also on academic probation at percentages above their representation in the student population. The curriculum at CCSF is not kind to working-class students, who continue to drop out at higher rates. I want to run for College Board to help the college develop curriculums that prepare students for the many thousand open jobs with the City and County of San Francisco. City departments should utilize the college as a feeder into permanent civil service positions that seem unattainable for most Black applicants.
