The William & Mary Fencing Club is raising $4,200 for a fencing summer camp to jumpstart our 2025-26 season!
Our team at William & Mary is a family that strives to build a community of support and self-improvement, which allows us to hold ourselves to a high standard of behavior and competition. Maintaining our level of competition requires the hard work of our active members, but also our larger network of alumni, friends, and families, without whose constant support this team could not function. This is why we are asking you to donate what you can to help send our épée and foil fencers to a five-day summer training camp at Revolution Fencing Center (FAOP Chester County) in Exton, PA, from August 18–22.
Camp will be run by Revolution coach and Tribe alumnus Doug “X” Tableman ‘13. Like so many of our fencers, Doug started fencing as a freshman at William and Mary in 2009. His experience with the team instilled a love for the sport that led all the way to international competitions.
In 15 years of coaching, Coach Doug has developed a deeply personalized approach, tailoring training plans to each student’s unique strengths, goals, and learning style. Coach Doug also maintains an A2025 rating and leverages his wealth of competitive experience to connect with his students as both a mentor but as a fellow competitor.
Last year, ten William & Mary epeeists participated in a 5-day epee camp with Coach Doug at Cardinal Fencing Academy, where he helped team leaders rework practice routines, giving us our now-beloved “Doug-up” warmup routine and providing each fencer with new ways to approach competition bouts. Using the tools learned at camp from Coach Doug, William & Mary enjoyed another successful season in 2024-25, with some epee highlights being:
Double golds in the club conference SIFA in Men's Epee.
Double golds in the club conference SIFA in Women's Epee.
7th place in Men's Epee against varsity competition in MACFA.
With Doug’s coaching, individual 9th and 7th place finishes in women’s epee and a 14th place finish in men’s epee at USACFC nationals.
13 medals at Virginia Division competitions, with many new and renewed ratings!
This camp offers an incredible opportunity for growth—newer fencers will receive hands-on coaching and skill development in a focused environment, while experienced team members will benefit from intensive drills, sparring, and strategic refinement. As a student-run club with limited funding, we rely on community support to make experiences like this accessible to all team members. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us invest in our athletes and strengthen our team. Thank you for supporting William & Mary Fencing!
