My name is Willetta Gillespie. I live in the Eaton Canyon/Altadena area. I was one of the fortunate persons whose homes were not totally destroyed. However, I was not fortunate to have no damage. Currently, I take care of my elderly mom who also resides in the residence.

We were one of the people whose insurance was canceled in 9/2024 because they were claiming they didn't want to cover California and wanted us to re-wire our entire home, which they only gave us a few months to come up with the quotes, which exceeded 30K. This is an older home and although I searched for insurance, we were not able to obtain any.

I am going through the FEMA process and they are currently working with the more crucial residents that lost everything, which I totally agree with. We are roughing it out with no lights nor gas but still blessed. Not sure what will happen with the FEMA. We are requesting funds to at least help with getting some of the cleaning and ventilation done in our home.
