On Tuesday, July 15th, our dad, Will Shumate, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer known as AML (Acute Monocytic Leukemia). He was immediately transferred to Ruby Memorial Hospital at West Virginia University to be under the care of some of the best cancer specialists in the state.
We are incredibly thankful that the doctors were able to diagnose the illness quickly and begin treatment right away. Will has just completed his first round of intensive chemotherapy — 7 days of 20 hours on and 4 hours off. His medical team is doing everything they can to fight this head-on.
The outpouring of prayers and support from family, friends, churches, and even kind-hearted strangers has brought our family comfort and strength. We cannot thank you enough. Your prayers are truly making a difference.
As you can imagine, this journey comes with significant financial burdens — medical expenses, travel, lodging, food, gas, and the daily bills that continue to come in back home. If you feel led to help our parents during this time, we would be deeply grateful. Any support, whether through a donation or continued prayer, means the world to us.
Most importantly, we ask that you please continue to pray for:
- Will’s healing and strength
- Our mom
- His oncologists and the incredible medical staff caring for him
Thank you for walking this path with us. Your love and kindness lift us every day.
