Hello, my name is Will. My mom Debbie had a stroke a few days ago and no longer can move the right side of her body and will need intensive rehab before she can do much of anything. She was the main caregiver of my father who is 84 and has dementia. If you know anyone who has a family member or friend dealing with dementia you know how hard it is on the people who care for them. My mom never stopped, all day everyday tended to his needs while also neglecting her own and put off financial responsibilities too, sadly. Family and friends are there to help but can only help with so much. It’s just me trying to handle everything with both my parents while trying to be in two places at once. My mom is my everything, my rock, my SOUL. I’m the man i am today because she raised me right. Raised me with a heart full of love, compassion and empathy, so much that my heart hurts seeing her like this. My heart is shattered with sadness and a mind that’s spinning and spinning. I would hate to not at least attempt every avenue of help available to me so that’s why i wanted to do this. During the holiday season too is a lot to ask. But maybe someone out there would understand what it’s like, how it feels. My parents had me late in life but i still wanna see my mom walk me down an aisle, wrap her arms around me and hold me tight.
