Hello family, friends, and bread lovers.
My name is Emily, and I am the sole owner/baker at Wild Yeast. I started this business in the Spring of 2022 at the South Royalton Farmer's Market, completely unaware of how it would be received, and how it would take off.
Within my first month, I was routinely selling out at the market and getting requests to offer my bread wholesale. In June, I moved into commercial kitchen space. In July, I added three wholesale customers as word continued to spread. By late August, I quit my part-time job and focused on the business full-time.
In February 2023, I moved into the Free Verse Farm Shop's kitchen and purchased my own equipment - a large mixer, a bread oven, and a refrigerator. It is now November, and I have outgrown my equipment. Two weeks ago, the second oven in my space (which was here when I moved in) died. Since then, I have been routinely waking up at 2am to keep up with the demand, even after cutting orders back. It has begun to take a toll on my wellbeing, my income, and the sustainability of the business.
I have a difficult time asking for help, but I believe that I am offering something special to my community, and I am grateful that many of you cherish my business.
I am asking for your support to purchase two essential items:
- A second Rack Master Brick Oven: $8,000
- A larger fridge to hold dough overnight: $2,199
Your one-time support will allow me to:
- Avoid burnout and sustain my current operation
- Increase my sales, allowing me to hire a part-time employee
- Expand my footprint in the Upper Valley
- Bring back focaccia pre-orders!
I sincerely love being your baker, and I hope to continue to do so for many years to come. Thank you for your consideration <3
P.s. if you're interested in hearing more about my story, I was just featured on Eat Vermont's podcast!
