Support Wilburn and Sara Hill

Donation protected
This fundraiser is for Wilburn & Sara Hill of Rutledge, Georgia.

Born with a servant's heart, and an innate longing to minister to others, Wilburn became a pastor at 19 years old. Although spending most of his young years as a bi-vocational pastor, he eventually followed God's calling into full-time ministry and continued his lifelong passion to spread the Gospel wherever he would go. He and Sara spent most of their ministry at Centennial Baptist Church, in Rutledge, until his retirement in 2011. For more than 30 years, he shepherded his flock, and it was his ability to minister to people that set him apart from other pastors. He made thousands of visits to hospitals visiting longtime members and first-time visitors alike, and relatives of people he had never even met. It was his passion to serve others in their time of need; he was a preacher of God's word, but a pastor like no other.

Although they had been in mostly good health in their senior years, Wilburn and Sara have recently found themselves in a new stage of declining health. Faithfully serving the needs of so many for most of his life, Wilburn has taken on a new caregiver role for Sara. Sara was diagnosed with dementia in 2024, and as her condition slowly worsened, it began to take its toll on the couple, with Wilburn assisting Sara with daily activities like eating, walking, and restroom assistance.

On September 29, 2024, Wilburn suffered a hemorrhagic stroke, a brain bleed from a ruptured blood vessel. This episode produced a major setback for Wilburn, who is 81 years old, but also cast Sara, who is 80, into a new environment, residing with her son while Wilburn was hospitalized for almost 40 days. Wilburn was allowed to return home after numerous neurology, cardiology, urology, therapy, and other doctor visits. Because of his weakened state, full-time care was required to assist him and Sara. Another episode on November 24, 2024, brought another setback. Another stroke, characterized as a mild stroke, left him weakened and confused, requiring more therapy and increasing the need for full-time care for him and Sara. With full-time, 7-days-per-week, private care, costs have begun to mount. These costs, which have reached more than $5,000 per month, have started to take their toll as the couple continues to operate on a fixed income.

We hope to provide funds to continue their daily care. There are no words to express the gratitude that they would have for each one who can support their needs at this time. May God bless you as you consider. Thank you.
