Dear friends,
On Sunday, March 29th, 2026, my good friend Wilberth was rushed to the emergency room at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center with severe back pain. After many hours and tests, it was determined that he had suffered a mild heart attack.
On Monday, March 30th, 2026, Wilberth underwent a cardiac catheterization, where doctors discovered significant blockage in various arteries around his heart. The results were clear – he needed to have surgery.
Two days ago, April 2nd, 2026, Wilberth underwent quadruple heart bypass surgery – a procedure in which vessels from his legs were used to create new routes around the blocked coronary arteries to restore blood flow to the heart muscle. I am happy to report that the procedure was successful!
Full recovery will take several weeks, and he will not be able to work during this time. Wilberth does not have immediate family here in the U.S., so he is relying on the support of his friends, neighbors, and community.
Funds raised through this account will help cover:
• Emergency room and hospital expenses
• Surgery and ongoing medical care
• Medications and follow-up treatments
• Recovery time and lost income
If you are able, please consider donating to help ease the financial burden of his surgery and recovery. No amount is too small – every contribution makes a difference.
If you cannot donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean just as much.
Thank you for your support and generosity!
With gratitude,
Jose Montero
