Hi, I’m Sami. I’m setting this up for our friend Kat because she’d never ask for help herself. Her family dog, Charlie, means the world to her, and right now she’s facing one of the hardest moments anyone who’s ever loved a pet can face.

This is Charlie — Kat's family dog, her “old man,” her “little moomoo.” He’s been with her through a lot, and he’s now at the end of his life. He can’t keep food down, he’s losing weight fast, his back legs have given out, and he’s become incontinent. He’s suffering badly, and it’s breaking her heart.

Charlie’s in New York, and Kat needs to travel as soon as possible to be with him and help make the necessary arrangements. Because he’s too weak to travel, a compassionate vet will need to come to the house to perform end-of-life services.

She’s spent hours researching and calling around to find the best option for their needs, and even the lowest quotes come in around $800 — not including her own travel costs.

I’m helping her quietly by looking into local grants and other support, but the reality is, there’s not a lot of help out there. This is a big, unexpected expense, and she could really use the generosity of the community.

Y’all know Kat as an incredibly generous, hardworking, and joyful person who keeps us all laughing — she’d never ask for help herself. So I’m asking for her.
