Dear friends, family, and supporters,
We are devastated to share the heartbreaking news of the sudden and tragic passing of our beloved friend, Kelvin Ho. On October 1, 2023, Kelvin was on his way home after playing a Vancouver Adult Co-ed Hockey League (VACHL) ice hockey game at Trout Lake Community Centre when he collapsed unexpectedly. Despite the efforts by friends, a Trout Lake staff member and then paramedics, he did not regain consciousness and sadly, Kelvin passed away.
Kelvin was not just an outstanding hockey player, but also a wonderful friend, a loving Dad to his 7 year old daughter Emily, faithful husband to Sherry, and a dedicated advocate for the sport he cherished. His infectious spirit, kindness, and enthusiasm touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a void that cannot be filled.
In the wake of this devastating loss, we are coming together to honor Kelvin's memory and to ensure that his legacy lives on through a cause for the widespread CPR training and availability of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). These lifesaving skills and equipment should be accessible to all, and we want to carry on his mission in his honor.
We have established the Kelvin Ho Memorial Fund with the goal of raising funds to support the St. John Ambulance in their mission to promote CPR training and place AEDs in more public spaces. The funds raised will be dedicated to advocating for CPR education and increasing the availability of AEDs in communities, work places, organizations, schools, and sports facilities to prevent more tragic losses like Kelvin's.
**How You Can Help:**
1. **Donate:** Your generous contributions will go directly to the purchase of equipment and training from St. John Ambulance. The purpose is to support programs aimed at teaching CPR, raising awareness, and providing AEDs to communities, work places, organizations, schools, and sports facilities in need.
One AED machine cost approximately $3,000
CPR training $159
2. **Share:** Please help us spread the word about this campaign by sharing it with your friends, family, and social networks. Kelvin's legacy can be strengthened through your support and connections.
3. **Learn CPR:** Consider taking a CPR and AED training course to equip yourself with life-saving skills. Share your knowledge with others, as Kelvin would have wanted.
Kelvin's passing is a painful reminder of the importance of being prepared for emergencies and the critical need for widespread CPR training and AED availability. Your contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant difference in raising awareness and funding these vital initiatives.
Let's unite in memory of Kelvin, and together, let's make a difference by ensuring that more lives are saved in his name. We are deeply grateful for your support and your commitment to promoting top emergency preparedness and training in Kelvin's memory.
Thank you for your kindness and compassion during this difficult time.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Kelvin Ho Memorial Fund
