Whitney has been the heart of our home since we adopted her from the shelter in 2019. From the moment we brought her home, she filled our lives with unconditional love, endless laughter, and a kind of happiness only a dog can bring. We met her at a shelter, when she was just 8 months old. She was barely 20 pounds, abused and completely malnourished. But from the moment we saw those honey brown eyes that melted our hearts and those emotional expressive eyebrows, we knew she was meant to be ours and be part of our family forever. She isn’t just our dog, she’s family, our baby girl, our best friend, and truly the highlight of our lives.

Whitney has always been full of personality, curiosity, and energy. Recently, that curiosity led to something scary—she chewed up part of our carpet on one of the stairs in our house and unfortunately, pieces of it caused a dangerous blockage in her stomach and intestines. This became a medical emergency, and she needed immediate surgery called an enterotomy to save her life.

She loves walks and playtime with her grandpa, giving kisses to her grandma, and running down the beach in the summer. She comes on every car ride, hiking trip, and family vacation, always bringing joy and laughter to our lives. And the thought of her never being able to do any of that again- has put so much sadness in our hearts. Watching her go through this has been heartbreaking. Seeing such a happy, loving dog in pain is something no pet parent is ever prepared for. We are beyond grateful that surgery was able to help her, but the unexpected veterinary costs have been overwhelming.

When we saw what happened we weren’t sure how much of the carpet she swallowed, so we monitored her closely. When she became physically ill and uncomfortable, we rushed her to the emergency vet. After scans, the vet suspected a blockage and recommended waiting to see if she would pass it naturally. But within the next half hour, testing confirmed the blockage, and they also found she was dangerously dehydrated due to inflammation from ingesting the carpet. Whitney received fluids to prepare for surgery, which turned out to be more complicated than expected. What they hoped was going to be 2 hours and just an incision in the stomach… the carpet was in both her stomach and intestines, requiring a Gastrotomy and Enterotymy. Despite the challenges, Whitney did so well during the surgery and she is currently in recovery and will be spending 2 days overnight at the emergency vet.

We are asking for help to cover Whitney’s surgery expenses and recovery care. Any donation, no matter how small, would mean the world to us and help ease the financial burden during this difficult time. If you’re unable to donate, simply sharing Whitney’s story would mean so much.

Whitney has given us so much love over the years, and now we want to do everything we can to give her the care she deserves. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting our sweet girl and helping us get her back to her happy, healthy self.
