Whitney High School's Japanese language students have shown incredible dedication in learning both the language and the culture. While textbooks and online materials provide a foundation, nothing compares to the impact of real-world experiences. This year, we hope to give our students the chance to immerse themselves in Japanese culture in ways that go far beyond the classroom.
We are seeking support for three special opportunities. First, the tea ceremony branch of Kokoro Kara, our Japanese culture club, would like to visit a local Japanese ceramic artist's studio. Here, students will create their own tea bowls, deepening their appreciation for the art of Japanese hospitality. Second, our Japan Quiz Bowl team has earned the chance to compete at the National Japan Quiz Bowl in Washington DC, and your support will help cover travel costs for this once-in-a-lifetime event. Finally, the taiko branch of Kokoro Kara is hoping to replace our aging taiko drums, ensuring students can continue to learn and perform this vibrant aspect of Japanese culture.
These experiences will not only enrich our students' understanding of Japanese language and culture, but also inspire them to continue their studies with passion and pride. We invite you to join us in making these opportunities possible. Your support, no matter the size, will have a lasting impact on our students' lives. Thank you for helping us bring these dreams to life!
