Hi everyone, this is Whitley Robinson.

My heart is heavy as I share that my family’s hometown of Savannah-la-Mar in Westmoreland Parish, Jamaica, has been hit hard by the most recent hurricane (Hurricane Melissa). I was born in Jamaica and still visit as often as I can since I have dual citizenship. Many homes in our community have been damaged, and my family’s home, the one that held my grandmother, father, great-aunts, and cousins for generations, has lost its roof and suffered severe water damage.

In Jamaica, a home is more than just walls and shelter; it’s a symbol of legacy, faith, and survival. It’s the one thing you pray to pass down, especially when opportunities are scarce and every road to recovery feels steep and uncertain. Watching my family’s home, the place that raised generations with love and sacrifice, sit vulnerable and at risk of being demolished is absolutely heartbreaking.

I’m organizing this GoFundMe on behalf of my family in Jamaica that has been affected by the hurricane to help with roof repairs, water restoration, groceries/resources, and rebuilding support. Every dollar raised will go directly to them with temporary housing and resources as they transition during this time. In Jamaica, even small amounts stretch far, and no donation is too small. Whether it’s $5, $50, or a prayer, every bit helps keep a family’s hope alive.
