Support While Undergoing Breast Cancer Treatment

I'm sharing this with care and honesty. If you know me, you know I tend to show up for others through caregiving, hospitality, creative work, and quiet acts of support. Asking for help does not come easily — but right now, it's necessary.
My Story
In September 2024, I experienced anemia-induced heart failure caused by severe menstrual bleeding. Once my body stabilized, I underwent a full hysterectomy — uterus, ovaries, and cervix — which placed me into surgical menopause in February 2025. Recovery was physically and emotionally demanding. Between March and June 2025, I served as an end-of-life doula for a dear friend as she succumbed to breast cancer. I held her through her final months, not knowing what was already growing in my own body. In late November 2025, I was diagnosed with Stage III invasive ductal carcinoma — breast cancer that has spread to my lymph nodes. More recently, testing revealed a second issue in the other breast, along with a CHEK2 genetic variant that further elevates my cancer risk. The good news is that this is treatable. The reality is that the year ahead involves surgery, treatment, recovery, and long-term care.
My Treatment Plan - On April 17th, I'm having a double mastectomy. Because of the extent of the surgery, my nipples cannot be spared, but reconstruction with implants will follow — and later, 3D nipple tattoos. Treatment will include chemotherapy and radiation afterward, along with close cardiac monitoring and long-term hormone therapy. My focus right now is simple: clear margins and getting through surgery. I am deeply grateful for modern medicine, excellent doctors, and the circle of people holding me up.
The Financial Reality
I am currently unemployed yet take on projects that are short term, Airbnb hosting to coordinating projects for people, I am insured through Medi-Cal, and staying with a loved one while undergoing treatment and awaiting permanent housing. I've applied for disability benefits, but the process is slow. The $24,000 goal represents roughly $2,000 per month — the simple, careful way I've been living for three years as I focus on healing.
Funds will help cover:
Basic living expenses and daily needs
Food, nutrition, and supplements to support my body during treatment
Treatment and recovery costs not covered by insurance
Bridging the gap while disability benefits are pending which I am told may take 200 plus days.
How You Can Help
Any contribution, no matter the size, creates stability and breathing room. If giving financially isn't possible, sharing this page is equally meaningful.
I know many of you are walking your own difficult paths. I see you, and I send loving kindness your way.
Taking this one step at a time — with patience, gratitude, and grace.
