On August 6, 2025, just months before her 50th birthday, a local family's world changed forever. Jeanine Miranda of West Seneca, was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer that had already spread to her liver and lymph nodes. No family is ever prepared to hear those words. The Miranda family certainly wasn't.
Jeanine is 50 years old — a loving wife, devoted mom, and truly the thread that keeps her family together. She is the heart of their home. Her husband says anyone who knows her would tell you she is one of the kindest, most genuine, and caring people you will ever meet.
She has always put everyone else first — her family, her friends, anyone in need — often without ever thinking about herself.
Jeanine is a graduate of Orchard Park High School and a 30-year employee of Bank of America. She is the proud mom of her 19-year-old daughter, Ava, who is away at college in Ohio, and her 16-year-old son, Marco, a junior at Orchard Park High School. Her husband Vinny has been a teacher in the Ken-Ton school district for 26 years.
Before cancer, Jeanine never missed a game if she could help it. She was always in the stands, cheering her son on with the biggest smile. She loved visiting her daughter at school just to grab a meal, give her a hug, and make sure she was okay.
Being a mom is her greatest joy. Family time has always meant everything to her. She loved day trips to the Finger Lakes, vacations down south, and long walks on the beach. Sundays in the fall meant cheering on the Buffalo Bills together.
She treasured simple dinners out, celebrating birthdays, and making holidays special. This year, cancer took so much of that from her — including celebrating her 50th birthday the way she deserved.
Since September, Jeanine has endured weekly chemotherapy infusions through December. She bravely chose to do cold capping during chemo in hopes of holding onto a small piece of normalcy.
She is currently undergoing 30 radiation treatments and faces liver surgery scheduled for April. The treatments have been exhausting and relentless. Right now, she cannot leave the house except for medical appointments.
Jeanine has been out of work for an extended time, and the medical bills and treatment-related expenses continue to grow. Beyond the financial strain, what weighs on her most is her children. Even in the middle of the fight of her life, she worries about them constantly. She wants their lives to remain as normal as possible.
That’s who she is — always thinking of others first.
This journey has tested the Miranda Family in every way imaginable, but they are staying hopeful. Jeanine is fighting with everything she has.
Her strength amazes her husband and children every single day.
"We are incredibly grateful for the love and support from friends and family who have lifted us up during this unimaginable time.
Our hope is that with successful treatment and surgery, Jeanine can regain her strength, return to work, and slowly begin reclaiming the life she loves — cheering at baseball games, visiting our daughter at college, walking along the beach, and celebrating milestones that matter so much," said Vinny, Jeanine's husband.
If you are able to support Jeanine and her family during this time, whether through a donation or simply sharing this page, they are deeply thankful. Every bit of help eases the burden and allows them to focus on what truly matters — her healing.
"From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and your support. We are holding on to hope, and we believe brighter days are ahead." – The Miranda Family
