We are thrilled to announce the West High School Choir in Salt Lake City, Utah has been nationally selected to perform at Carnegie Hall in March of 2026—an honor reserved for the most distinguished ensembles through WorldStrides. Even more exciting, we recently learned that West High will be the featured choir at this prestigious performance.

This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity will allow our students to learn from world-class music professionals, collaborate with renowned conductors, and sing alongside outstanding choirs from across the country. Our students will also experience the magic of a Broadway show and visit the Statue of Liberty—memories that will inspire them for years to come.

West High School is the only inner-city high school in Utah, the only high school on the West Side of Salt Lake City, and the oldest high school in the state. We are also proud to be home to Utah’s most diverse student body, representing more than 70 spoken languages. Nearly 40% of our students qualify for financial assistance, making opportunities like this especially meaningful—and challenging to afford.

To help ease the financial burden of this trip for our choir families, we are launching this fundraising campaign. We have 32 students going. Our district does not fund opportunities of this kind, so our students and parents are working tirelessly to raise the money needed to get us to New York. Your support will make a direct and lasting impact.

The West High Choir has been a beloved part of our school and community for nearly 75 years. Since 2021, under the direction of Andrea Hernandez, our choirs have earned top honors at regional and state festivals, consistently receiving Superior I ratings. Our students have performed at prestigious venues such as the Tabernacle for All-State and Abravanel Hall for the Honor Choir. In 2023, the choir traveled to California for the Heritage Festival, earning a Gold Rating, qualifying us for the exclusive GOLD Series events.
