Less than 24 hrs after discharge from an already difficult delivery, we found ourselves back in the hospital for an extended stay.
At a routine pediatric appointment, it was discovered that little Wesley’s temperature was critically low. Following many tests, labs, and procedures, it was discovered that Wesley’s lab work for HSV-1 came back equivocal (treated as positive). HSV-1 in adults and children is fairly common and doesn’t cause much harm, however in infants it can cause devastating damage and death without treatment. Treatment involves a minimum 2 week stay in the hospital in addition to 6 months of suppression therapy to ensure the virus does not return. Wesley has a long road ahead.
We appreciate any donations to help us offset medical bills, cost of living, meals, and extra supplies we have had to purchase in order to make this stay possible. There is absolutely no obligation. We appreciate prayer and visits just as much. Thank you for being our community in this difficult time.
