Hello my name is Wendy Johnson. I am a local truck driver. In July 2024 I was injured at work. I was closing the doors in my trailer, I heard a "pop" in my shoulder. I disregarded it. I had work to do. When I finished that day I noticed a nagging pain in my shoulder. I began nursing my self with otc Tylenol. For a month I tried to fix me. Yes I had health insurance. In my line of work unless I'm dying I'm going to keep going. Well a month passed it got to the point no matter how l positioned my left arm there was tingling, burning and needles. I still tried to work through it. On the 18th of August 2024 I was doing my job when the pain became unbearable. I didn't know if I was having a stroke or heart attack. Contacted my dispatch informing her as to what was happening. I told her I was goin to the ER. they did X-rays. NO broken bones. Prescribed daytime and pm meds. I was told by the HR and safety department to stay home. I followed up with my primary. MRI was done and therapy was scheduled. A torn rotor cuffand herniated disks in my neck. During the therapy exercises I noticed looking up and looking down the tingling and burning increased. I saw 2 orthopedic specialists. I received epidural which were temporary fixes. More MRIS and CT scans were done. The last resort would be surgery. I exhausted my short term disability in November 2024. I have liquidated all my my assets. I have received food stamps. I'm not eligible for cash as I have no dependents. I am trying desperately to stay afloat. I applied for unemployment which I was denied because I dont have a return date .I have been under doctors care since Aug 2024. I have also applied at the town trustee. They did assist. I've used my allotment with them. No charities are available until possibly October. My boyfriend has assisted me as much as he can. My personal truck is down. I've used the medicaid transportation to get to the hospital to have labs, X-rays and ekg done. I'm scheduled to have surgery next week. I live a very minimal life style. NO partying. I don't do drugs or smoke anything. I am a home body. I am in need. I have done house keeping in the past. I can't do this anymore. I don't know if l will be able to go back to driving.
