On October 17th, 2023, just two days before my mom's 56th birthday, the unimaginable happened. What started as a normal day, has completely turned our lives upside down. My mom, the breadwinner of our family, suffered a medical emergency while at work when she had a violent grand mal seizure. Thankfully, her coworkers acted quickly and called 911, and she was rushed to the ER by ambulance, where she suffered a second seizure. During the whole ordeal, she also suffered what has been confirmed to be a stroke. This has left her with deficits in her physical functioning, including her ability to communicate, called expressive aphasia, and her ability to do most things independently. While the doctors and nurses are doing everything they can for her, she's not out of the woods yet and faces a long road to recovery, during which time she is unfortunately not able to work.

For anyone who knows my mom, you know she's the kind of person you either love or hate, and likewise she loves or hates you and she'll make sure you know which one it is. She will never ask for help and never let you know she's struggling because she never wants anyone to feel like they can't count on her or come to her when they need a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on. She's honest, and caring, and does everything with her whole heart. She would give you the shirt off her back or cook you a home cooked meal if it meant you'd be better off because of it. She'll drink you under a table and she swears like a sailor, but she always knows the right words to say when you need to hear them the most. She's got the biggest heart. She's a proud Mamo or Mamaw to three little boys who adore her, a boxer mom, a wife, a mother, a friend. I know she means so much to so many people and she could really use your support in this time of unimaginable tragedy.
