Support Wendy's Battle Against Breast Cancer

Hi, I’m Stephanie… and I’m starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my beautiful Mama, Wendy. About 7 weeks ago, my Mom was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma aka breast cancer. Everyday since has been a complete whirlwind. Life was shattered into two segments… life before the dreaded C-word, and life after diagnosis.

Her initial diagnosis was Stage 1, Grade 2 • hr+ Her2- breast cancer.

On Monday, September 23rd, she underwent a double Mastectomy and 3 nearby lymph nodes were removed and sent to pathology to determine whether the breast cancer had spread to the lymphatic system.

As I’m writing this today, Friday, September 27th, 2024, pathology results informed us that those three lymph nodes were negative for metastatic malignancy but to our dismay, she tested positive for vascular invasion. This means that cancer cells have been detected moving through her blood. This is cause for concern as this heightens the possibility that those cancer cells can cause cancer to form somewhere else in her body.

We are now waiting oncotype DX scores which she will receive on October 10th to determine next steps as far as treatment with either radiation or chemo.

We were definitely not prepared for this news which is why I’m starting this GoFundMe now. With impending cancer treatments and new prognosis, my mom will be unable to return to work for an unknown and possibly indefinite amount of time and she needs the financial assistance to be able to focus on fighting cancer and not worrying about bills and medical treatment costs in the process.
